Passion and Purpose: Meet Michelle Brown

Throughout her career, Michelle Brown has worked in schools, a homeless shelter, a women’s shelter, a hospital system, and more. No matter where she’s been or what she’s done, one thing has never changed: She is passionate about helping people.

She was drawn to St. Francis Seraph Ministries (SFSM) because of the wide variety of services we provide, including nutritious meals in the Mother Teresa of Calcutta Dining Room, healing compassion through Foot Care for the Souls, and enriching classes at the Sarah Center.

“We do a lot of different things, have a lot of different resources here,” says Michelle, who joined SFSM in April as Executive Administrative Assistant. “The people here are just so genuine. You can tell they love what they do. They are here for the right reasons.”

One of Michelle’s reasons for being at SFSM comes from a deeply personal place. She lost her sister to a drug overdose but turned that loss into inspiration.

“I always wanted to be in the helping field,” she says. “It makes me feel more at peace knowing I’m helping in some way. That’s what keeps me motivated and has always kept me in this field. That’s where I’ll always stay.”

Michelle went back to school in her early 30s and earned a degree in human services and counseling from Northern Kentucky University. She thrives in roles where she wears multiple hats and works as part of a team, which is exactly what she found at SFSM.

Michelle is excited to come to work every day knowing she can partner with her colleagues — as well as with volunteers and supporters like you — to make a difference in someone’s life.

“We take for granted that we get to eat lunch every day; we get to eat dinner and breakfast. A lot of people don’t get that. That we’re able to provide that at SFSM — maybe that meal made their day. Maybe it gave them a little bit of peace,” Michelle says. “I just love what I do. It’s a perfect fit for me.”
