Cooking for the Family

What:

Cooking for the Family is a 5-week program held in the kitchen classroom at the St. Anthony Center. Participants learn 8 basic cooking skills and techniques utilizing fresh seasonal vegetables. As each student builds knowledge and confidence to cook more at home, the whole family gets involved in daily meal preparation.

Each week introduces a new recipe, featuring a healthy meal that can feed a family of four for under $10. Our program culminates in creating a meal/celebration using these new skills and ingredients for family, friends, and community. Following completion of the program, participants receive a cooking kit which includes: a chef’s knife, sharpener, cutting board and cast-iron skillet.

Locations:

In addition to the St. Anthony Center location, classes are also offered at various locations throughout the Cincinnati area. If interested, please register and indicate which days, times and locations work best for you. We will contact you with class details.

Thank you for allowing me to participate . I loved this class, I learned so much from Chef Mona. What a great idea on so many levels . Teaching basic cooking skills, nutrition information, crating meals, and developing relationships ones that would never happen except through something like this. I’m a firm believer in C. S. Lewis’ quote from The Four Loves, “Friendship is about something else”.

You [Leigh Gorman, one of our chef instructors] popped in my head today as I was prepping Jake's before game meal and then our dinner for tonight. I remember coming to your class and being so unsure of myself cooking wise yet so eager to learn so I could be a part of making Jake well again. You know he has been off medicine for 2 years now and still in remission. How wonderful of a healer food can be. Just wanted to thank you again for making me feel so comfortable there and for helping me on this great path not only for Jake but for my whole family. I feel blessed with every veggie I cut and every meal I prepare.
